Are Threesomes Even Still a Thing?

A girl never forgets her first – threesome.

It was a summer night. My hair was glowing (as it always is). My boyfriend and I were very much in love. What went wrong? A secret third person participated in the relationship.

First, I was pissed. Then I was – invited in. I was left in a weird state of fascination and with the urge to break things. In other words: I felt like I might be crazy enough to do it.

So, did I accept? Did I have a threesome with my boyfriend and his (play) friend?

No, I did not. I weren’t that old, but let’s be honest – I probably wouldn’t do it now either, or at least so I thought.

For me threesomes have always been a totally fine thing, but I’m a jealous person. I don’t want to see another woman’s hands around my man. I don’t want him to touch her beautiful breasts. No thanks.

Yet, I don’t want to come in and be an extra. I don’t want to be second best during that show. Please, look at me. Like me. Love me. But how can you demand than kind of attention as the third person? You can’t.

Why consider a threesome now then? Well, someone asked me last week if I were up for one and that made me laugh. It seems like an outdated thing for me. I don’t mean that people don’t have threesomes anymore, but when you pass that certain teenage age, you kind of know, what you want or don’t want. I never had a threesome, so why would I go in for one at 23?

Some might think that’s crazy. 23? Aren’t you still starting out? Full disclosure – I lost my virginity at 15. I’ve been sexually active for almost nine years, so I’d like to think of myself as (kind of) experienced.

The talk about threesomes made me take a look back. I had the (lovely) experience mentioned above, but what else?

Three different threesomes

▲ I had a best friend, but then she invited another (stupid) friend into our ring of trust and love. Another bad experience with threesomes.

▲ I had two bunnies once, but they killed each other. Another bad experience.

▲ I fell in love with a good friend, but then he got a (said completly impartially) terrible girlfriend. Another bad one.

Were threesomes ever a thing? Or is the greatness of threesomes a myth almost as old as the Greek mythology? What are the success rates of these threesomes? Are all parties ever left satisfied? Are my previous threesome experiences making me biased against sexual threesomes?

The answer is still to be found, but I’m left curious now. Maybe threesomes are still a thing.
